Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Launches Scheme for Commercial Vehicles Amid Fuel Price Surge

PESHAWAR โ€“ The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a new scheme for commercial vehicles under the Ehsaas Fuel Support Programme. The initiative aims to reduce the impact of rising fuel prices.

Officials said the scheme for commercial transport operators comes after a sharp increase in petroleum prices. The rise followed regional tensions and has affected transport costs across the province.

Under the new plan, monthly fuel subsidies will be provided to commercial vehicle owners. The Transport Department confirmed that the support will vary based on vehicle type and usage.

Bus operators will receive up to Rs100,000 every month. Large vehicles will get Rs80,000 in fuel support. Truck owners will receive Rs70,000 under the scheme for commercial transport relief.

Minibuses will be given Rs40,000 per month. Vans will receive Rs35,000 to help manage fuel expenses. Officials said the program is designed to support daily transport operations.

The government stated that the scheme for commercial relief is part of broader efforts to stabilize transport costs. It is also aimed at protecting passengers from rising fare pressures.

According to the Transport Department, the application process will be fully digital. This step is meant to improve transparency and reduce delays in approvals.

Officials said the digital system will help verify applicants quickly. It will also ensure that only eligible commercial vehicle owners benefit from the program.

The scheme for commercial vehicles is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of transport operators. It may also help maintain stable public transport services in the province.

Authorities believe the subsidy program will ease economic pressure on drivers. It is also expected to improve mobility for daily commuters across urban and rural areas.

The provincial government has urged transport owners to apply through the official digital platform. They said the system will be simple and accessible for all eligible applicants.

Officials added that further support measures may be introduced if fuel prices remain high. The focus remains on reducing the burden on commercial transport operators.
