South African batter Rilee Rossouw has stirred debate after making a subtle comparison between the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League, calling the latter more competitive.
Speaking to media in Karachi, Rossouw acknowledged that both leagues have their own strengths. However, he pointed out that the shorter format of the PSL makes it more intense and challenging for players.
Rossouw remarked that the IPL is a longer tournament and includes strong entertainment elements. He noted that its connection with Bollywood makes it feel โmore like a movie than actual cricket.โ
His comments come as the PSL continues to gain global attention for its competitive environment. Many players performing in the league have recently earned contracts in IPL franchises, showing its growing importance in international cricket.
Notable names such as Luke Wood, Tim Seifert, Kyle Jamieson, Jason Holder and Finn Allen have been picked in IPL 2026 after featuring in PSL, reinforcing its role as a talent platform.
In addition, players like Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis chose to participate in PSL instead of IPL this season, highlighting the leagueโs rising appeal.
Rossouw is currently representing the Quetta Gladiators in PSL 11. He has scored 79 runs in four innings so far, maintaining a steady presence in the teamโs batting lineup.
In their latest match, Quetta Gladiators secured a convincing 61-run win over Rawalpindiz. Rossouw played a key role by scoring a half-century, helping his side post a strong total.
Chasing 184, Rawalpindiz struggled and were bowled out for 121. Players like Daryl Mitchell and Saad Masood showed resistance, but the team failed to build partnerships.
Quettaโs bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance, with Saud Shakeel, Usman Tariq, and Jahandad Khan leading the attack. Their combined effort ensured a comfortable victory for the Gladiators.
