Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has not yet received an official invitation from the Indian government to attend the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to recent reports.
The IPL final is scheduled to take place on May 31, 2026, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Reports suggested that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi may attend the event, but officials clarified that no formal approval or invitation has been issued so far.
Sources said discussions regarding the possible visit are still ongoing. However, the matter remains uncertain because the PCB chairman cannot travel officially without clearance and invitation from Indian authorities.
Reports further stated that any final decision regarding the visit of Mohsin Naqvi will be taken after consultation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Officials added that further developments are expected only if a formal invitation is received from the Indian side.
So far, authorities confirmed that no official communication has been sent by the Indian government regarding attendance at the IPL final. This has created uncertainty over whether the PCB chairman will travel to India for the event.
Meanwhile, an International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting is also scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on May 30 and 31. Pakistan is expected to be represented during the meeting, and Mohsin Naqvi is considered the likely representative from the PCB.
However, his participation in the ICC Board meeting also remains unclear at this stage. Officials say the matter depends on travel permissions, official invitations, and diplomatic coordination between both countries.
The possible visit has attracted attention among cricket fans and media circles in Pakistan and India. Many observers believe the development could be important for cricket diplomacy between the two neighbouring countries.
Pakistan and India have shared a complicated cricket relationship in recent years due to political tensions. Bilateral cricket series between the two nations have remained suspended, while interactions mostly take place during ICC tournaments and international meetings.
Experts say appearances by senior cricket officials at international events can help maintain communication between cricket boards even during difficult political situations.
The IPL remains one of the world’s biggest cricket leagues and regularly attracts international attention. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the final is expected to take place, is one of the largest cricket venues globally.
Social media users have also been discussing the reports surrounding Mohsin Naqvi’s possible attendance at the IPL final. Some fans viewed the development positively, while others questioned whether the visit would actually happen.
