Cybersecurity Student Among Four Arrested in Karachi Exam Cheating Network Bust

KARACHI โ€“ Police have uncovered a major cheating network involved in matriculation examinations in the city. The operation has raised serious concerns about misuse of cybersecurity knowledge.

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Karachi Police arrested four suspects during targeted raids. The raids were conducted in Malir, Surjani, New Karachi, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal areas.

Officials confirmed that the arrested individuals include Mubeen Khan, Usama, Bilal, and Abdul Razzaq. They are accused of running an organised group involved in paper leaks.

According to Deputy Inspector General CIA Muqaddas Haider, the group was actively involved in providing leaked exam papers. They allegedly charged students large amounts of money before examinations.

Investigators said the network operated through online platforms. The suspects used digital tools to distribute exam papers a night before exams.

Authorities revealed that the main suspect, Mubeen Khan, is a final-year cybersecurity student at Sindh Madressatul Islam University. His knowledge of cybersecurity and digital systems was reportedly used to run the illegal operation.

Police said the group created several online channels. These groups had thousands of student members connected to the network.

Payments were collected through online banking services. Officials believe the system was carefully structured to avoid detection.

The CIA stated that such cheating networks are becoming more advanced. Many of them now rely on digital systems and basic cybersecurity techniques to avoid tracking.

Authorities emphasized that the misuse of cybersecurity skills for illegal activities is a growing concern. They warned that strict action will be taken against all individuals involved.

A case has been registered against the suspects, and further investigations are ongoing. Police are also trying to identify other members connected to the network.

Officials said efforts are underway to dismantle similar cheating groups operating across the city. They added that protecting examination integrity is a top priority.
