Punjab government continues its housing support program at a large scale. The province distributes massive financial aid under the Apni Chat Apna Ghar scheme. The goal is to help low-income families build their own homes.
According to the Punjab Housing Department, the scheme has distributes over Rs191 billion in interest-free loans. These funds are provided to citizens across different districts of Punjab. The initiative focuses on affordable housing for poor and middle-income groups.
Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin said the program has already supported many families. He stated that the government has distributes funds to 135,410 families so far. These families are now able to start construction of their homes.
He further added that progress is moving at a strong pace. More than 91,000 houses have already been completed under the scheme. This is being called a major milestone by officials.
At the same time, around 42,000 houses are currently under construction. Authorities expect these homes to be completed within the current financial year. The program continues to expand across Punjab.
During a meeting with Sikandar Zeeshan, Director General of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency, the minister highlighted transparency in the system. He said recoveries of more than Rs10 billion in installments show strong accountability.
The minister also shared that public interest in the scheme is increasing. More than 1.176 million applications have been received for housing loans. This shows growing demand for affordable housing support.
Bilal Yasin said the dream of owning a house is now becoming real for many families. He emphasized that the government distributes resources fairly to ensure equal opportunity for all eligible citizens.
He also referred to the broader housing plan announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The plan aims to construct 100,000 houses for low-income families across the province.
Officials said that under this project, more than 3,000 houses will be built in every district of Punjab. The goal is to ensure balanced development and housing access.
Overall, the Apni Chat Apna Ghar scheme continues to grow rapidly. The program not only distributes financial support but also strengthens housing development across Punjab.
