The Sindh government has announced a new policy to strengthen the agriculture sector. The province has fixed the Wheat Support price at Rs. 3,500 per maund. This decision is aimed at helping farmers ahead of the upcoming procurement season.
Officials say the new Wheat Support price will provide better financial relief to growers. It is expected to improve earnings for small and medium farmers across Sindh.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon shared details of the new plan. He said the government has also set a wheat procurement target of 1 million metric tons. This target reflects a strong commitment to farmer-friendly policies.
He added that the Wheat Support initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen agriculture. The government wants to ensure fair prices and smooth selling for farmers at official centers.
The minister also announced important changes in the procurement system. The limit on wheat sales has been removed. The condition of five bags per acre has also been eliminated. This step allows farmers to sell their produce more freely.
Under the revised system, the Wheat Support policy will directly benefit small farmers. They will now have easier access to government procurement centers. This is expected to reduce financial pressure on rural communities.
Officials have also directed departments to speed up the procurement process. Special focus will be given to districts where progress is slow. This is to ensure the overall target is achieved on time.
Memon further highlighted the role of Sindh Bank in supporting farmers. He said fuel subsidies are being provided within one day. This quick response has improved trust among farmers.
He also mentioned that timely payments worth millions of rupees have already been made. According to him, this has strengthened confidence in the Wheat Support system.
