Sanjay Dutt To Return As Ballu in ‘Khalnayak Returns’ After ecades

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is set to return as his iconic character Ballu in Khalnayak Returns, a fresh take on the 1993 hit film Khal Nayak.

The announcement was made during a special event in Mumbai, where Sanjay Dutt officially unveiled the project. He confirmed that his production company, Three Dimension Motion Pictures, has partnered with Aspect Entertainment, owned by producer Aksha Kamboj.

The companies have acquired the rights for the sequel from veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai and his production house Mukta Arts.

A short teaser was also shown during the event. It featured Sanjay Dutt in a rugged and intense new look. The teaser hinted at the return of Ballu, one of Bollywood’s most memorable anti-heroes from the 1990s.

Speaking at the launch, Sanjay Dutt thanked Subhash Ghai for making the original film possible. He said the journey of Khal Nayak has been long and credited the filmmaker for creating the iconic story. He also confirmed that Ghai will remain involved in the new project.

During the event, Dutt made a surprising revelation about how the sequel idea first started. He shared that he thought about bringing back Khal Nayak while he was in jail.

The actor said he discussed the idea with fellow inmates during his prison term linked to the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. According to him, many inmates showed excitement about watching a sequel.

The original Khal Nayak became a major success and featured Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit alongside Dutt.
