KARACHI โ€“ Pakistan Airports to Launch Electric Cart Service for Passengers

KARACHI โ€“ Pakistan Airports to Launch Electric Cart Service for Passengers

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced a new electric cart service to improve travel convenience for passengers at major airports across the country.

Officials said the service will be introduced in phases. In the first phase, electric carts will be available at airports in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Multan.

The new facility is aimed at helping passengers move easily between parking areas and airport terminals. It will also provide return transport from terminal buildings back to parking zones.

According to PAA officials, tenders have already been invited for the electric mobility cart service. The authority is now moving forward with the implementation process.

Director Commercial Rabia Salmi said passengers will be able to book the carts through a mobile application. This digital feature is expected to make the service easier to access.

She said the initiative will especially benefit elderly travelers and people who face difficulty walking long distances at airports.

Airport officials believe the service will reduce travel stress for passengers carrying luggage or traveling with families.

The move is part of broader efforts to improve airport services in Pakistan. Authorities are working on several modernization projects at major airports.

Earlier, the Pakistan Airports Authority approved more than Rs5 billion to upgrade air traffic control systems at Karachi and Lahore airports.

Officials said modern flight management systems will be installed to improve operational efficiency and safety standards.

The project has already received approval from the Central Development Working Party. Authorities said the latest technology will be used in both cities.

The upgraded system will provide better guidance to aircraft during flights. This is expected to improve air traffic management capabilities.

Officials said both projects reflect Pakistanโ€™s efforts to modernize airport infrastructure and improve services for travelers.

The electric cart service is expected to make airport travel smoother for passengers, especially during busy travel seasons.
