Health authorities in Punjab have issued an urgent alert after serious quality issues were found in several medicines. Officials confirmed the presence of substandard and adulterated pharmaceutical products in the market.
The action has led to a strong response, and Punjab orders a province-wide recall of affected drug batches. The decision was taken after laboratory tests revealed safety concerns in commonly used medicines.
According to the Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab, multiple drug samples failed required quality standards. These results raised major concerns about patient safety and drug effectiveness across the province.
Authorities said two infusion products under the GEE-Sol brand were declared substandard. These include Infusion GEE-Sol (NS) 1000 mL and Infusion GEE-Sol RL 500 mL. Both batches were found not meeting essential medical standards.
In a separate finding, Injection Neudex 1 mL was declared adulterated. This product contains Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate. Officials said this is a serious violation under drug safety regulations.
Following these findings, Punjab orders immediate withdrawal of all affected batches from the market. Manufacturers, distributors, and license holders have been instructed to act without delay.
They are also required to submit complete distribution records. In addition, recall details must be uploaded to the DRAP online system. Authorities said this step is necessary for transparency and tracking.
Drug inspectors have been directed to increase monitoring across pharmacies. Field teams will conduct inspections in both urban and rural areas. Strict action will be taken against any violations.
Officials warned that any non-compliance will be dealt with under the Drugs Act 1976 and DRAP Act 2012. They emphasized that patient safety remains the top priority.
The situation has prompted Punjab orders to strengthen surveillance of the pharmaceutical supply chain. Authorities aim to prevent further distribution of unsafe medicines in the market.
Health experts say such actions are necessary to maintain public trust in medical systems. They also stress the importance of regular quality checks for all drug products.
Overall, the alert highlights serious concerns over drug quality control. The government continues to monitor the situation closely and ensure strict enforcement of regulations.
