Punjab Announces Strict Safety Rules for Basant 2027 Festival

The Punjab government has announced new safety regulations for Basant 2027. The rules aim to ensure public safety during the festival. Authorities have set December 30, 2026, as the deadline for full implementation.

The measures have been introduced on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Officials say the goal is to protect lives and property during celebrations. Compliance with the new rules is mandatory for citizens, building owners, and event organizers.

Under the new guidelines, kite flying during Basant 2027 will only be allowed on secure rooftops. Buildings must have boundary walls at least three and a half feet high. This step is meant to reduce the risk of falls and accidents.

Parents and guardians have also been given clear instructions. Children must remain under constant supervision at all times. They will not be allowed near rooftop edges without monitoring. Authorities believe this will help prevent serious injuries.

Several risky activities have been strictly banned. These include running, jumping, and hanging from rooftop edges. Chasing fallen kites aggressively is also prohibited. Officials say such actions have caused accidents in past events.

Rooftops will also have limits on crowd capacity. Property owners must ensure that only a safe number of people gather. Overcrowding will be treated as a violation of safety rules during Basant 2027.

The government has also banned loud music and DJ systems during kite-flying events. Any activity that disturbs neighbors will be considered an offense. Authorities aim to maintain a peaceful environment during the festival.

Safety preparations have also been emphasized. All venues must keep first-aid kits available. Citizens have been advised to contact emergency services such as Rescue 1122 in case of incidents.

Building owners and event organizers will be held responsible for any violations. Strict legal action may be taken if rules are ignored. Officials have been directed to ensure full enforcement of the regulations.
