Air Tickets Likely to Get More Expensive After Jet Fuel Price Hike

The government has announced a major change in fuel prices, bringing relief for some consumers while increasing pressure on the airline industry. Light diesel oil has become cheaper, but jet fuel prices have increased sharply.

According to the latest notification, the price of light diesel oil has been reduced by Rs21.70 per liter. After the cut, the new rate has been fixed at Rs265.84 per liter. Earlier, light diesel oil was being sold at Rs287.54 per liter.

The reduction is expected to provide relief to industries and consumers who rely on light diesel oil for transportation and machinery use. Officials believe the decrease may help lower operational costs in some sectors.

However, the situation is different for the aviation industry. Jet fuel prices have increased significantly by Rs53.11 per liter. The new price of jet fuel has now reached Rs441.66 per liter.

Previously, jet fuel was available at Rs388.55 per liter. The sharp increase is expected to raise airline operating expenses in the coming weeks.

Industry experts say airlines may transfer the additional burden to passengers through higher fares. As a result, Air Tickets for domestic and international flights could become more expensive soon.

The increase in fuel costs comes at a time when many travelers are already facing rising travel expenses. Airlines usually adjust ticket prices when fuel charges increase sharply.

Experts believe the latest hike may directly affect Air Tickets across several routes. Travelers planning vacations or business trips could see noticeable increases in fares if airlines revise pricing structures.

Meanwhile, the government also raised the prices of other petroleum products on Friday night. Petrol prices increased by Rs14.92 per litre, while high-speed diesel became costlier by Rs15 per litre.

Following the revision, petrol is now priced at Rs414.78 per litre. High-speed diesel has been fixed at Rs414.58 per litre, according to the Petroleum Division.
