Kerosene Oil prices in Pakistan have increased again following the latest revision in petroleum product rates announced by the government. According to an official notification, the price of Kerosene Oil has gone up by Rs1.71 per litre.
After the latest increase, the new price of Kerosene Oil has been fixed at Rs313.44 per litre. Previously, it was being sold at Rs311.73 per litre across the country.
The revised rates came into effect immediately from midnight after the announcement by the government. The latest adjustment was shared through an official notification and later reported by local media outlets.
Interestingly, the increase in kerosene prices came at a time when the government reduced prices of petrol and diesel. According to the Ministry of Finance, petrol prices were reduced by Rs6 per litre, while diesel prices were lowered by Rs6.80 per litre.
Under the new rates, petrol is now available at around Rs403 per litre. Diesel prices have also been reduced to nearly Rs404 per litre. This marks the second consecutive week in which the government has announced cuts in petrol and diesel prices.
Despite reductions in other fuel products, Kerosene Oil has moved in the opposite direction. The latest increase may affect people living in remote and colder regions where kerosene is still widely used for cooking, heating, and lighting purposes.
Many households depend on kerosene because it remains more accessible in areas with limited gas supply. Any increase in its price can place additional pressure on low-income families already dealing with inflation and rising utility costs.
Just last week, the government had reduced kerosene prices by Rs7.23 per litre. That temporary relief had lowered costs for consumers using kerosene regularly. However, the latest increase has partially reversed that reduction.
Experts say fuel prices in Pakistan continue to fluctuate due to changes in global oil markets and exchange rate movements. International crude oil prices, shipping costs, and regional tensions also influence local petroleum prices.
The government reviews petroleum product prices regularly based on recommendations from relevant authorities. Officials say the adjustments are made to reflect changes in international market trends and import costs.
Consumers have shown mixed reactions to the latest announcement. While many welcomed the reduction in petrol and diesel prices, others expressed concern over the increase in Kerosene Oil rates.
