Spotify has launched a new AI-powered feature called “Personal Podcast” that allows users to create private audio episodes directly inside the app. The update marks another step in Spotify’s expansion into AI-driven content.
The company said Spotify users can simply enter a text prompt describing the topic they want. Spotify then generates a personalized podcast episode based on the request. It also uses user listening habits and interests to improve content relevance.
According to the platform, Spotify combines world knowledge with a user’s taste profile. This helps create more accurate and personalized audio experiences for each listener.
Spotify also allows users to schedule recurring podcast episodes. This means users can receive daily briefings, weekly summaries, or topic-based explainers automatically.
For example, Spotify can generate daily city updates or explain complex topics like economics in simple audio form. These features aim to make learning and updates more accessible.
Users can also add extra input before generating episodes. Spotify supports links, PDFs, and text to improve context and accuracy. Users can further refine prompts and choose different AI voices.
Each generated episode will remain private. Spotify confirmed that all Personal Podcast content will be stored in the “Your Library” section. Only the creator can access it.
Spotify emphasized that privacy is a key part of the feature. No other users will be able to view or listen to generated episodes.
The rollout of Spotify Personal Podcast will begin in June. It will first be available to eligible Premium users in the United States.
Spotify will provide users with monthly credits to generate podcasts. Additional credits may be purchased if users need more content.
This feature builds on Spotify’s earlier AI tools, including its “Save to Spotify” beta system. That system allows users to create and store AI-generated audio using external tools and platforms.
