A new diplomatic development may be taking shape as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signaled that a second round of the Islamabad Talks could take place soon. The remarks have increased speculation about fresh efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the United States and Iran.
Speaking after a high-level international phone conversation, PM Shehbaz said Pakistan would continue supporting peace efforts with “utmost sincerity.” He also stated that Islamabad is prepared to host the next phase of the Islamabad Talks “very soon.”
The prime minister congratulated US President Donald Trump for what he described as “extraordinary efforts” toward regional peace and diplomatic engagement. His statement came after reports of a rare multinational discussion involving several key regional powers.
According to officials, the important call included leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, and Pakistan. The diplomatic engagement focused on regional stability and ongoing peace initiatives connected to the Middle East situation.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir represented Pakistan during the discussions. PM Shehbaz publicly praised his role and acknowledged his “tireless efforts” throughout the diplomatic process.
Officials said the conversation mainly centered on reducing tensions and exploring possible pathways toward long-term peace in the region. Pakistan also reaffirmed its commitment to playing a positive and constructive role in future negotiations.
The latest developments suggest that the Islamabad Talks are becoming increasingly important in regional diplomacy. Government sources claimed Pakistan has quietly facilitated communication between Washington and Tehran through backchannel discussions.
Sources further indicated that Islamabad may have contributed to shaping a draft framework designed to reduce tensions between the United States and Iran. Analysts believe Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach has helped improve communication between multiple sides during a sensitive period.
These developments follow a fragile ceasefire that reportedly came into effect on April 8 after months of rising tensions. The earlier conflict had disrupted maritime trade routes and created uncertainty in global energy markets.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have also shown cautious optimism regarding diplomatic progress. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei recently stated that Tehran had entered the “final stage” of preparing a possible framework agreement with Washington.
Political analysts believe successful Islamabad Talks could significantly impact regional peace, global energy stability, and diplomatic relations across the Middle East. Many observers are now closely watching whether another formal round of talks will be announced in the coming weeks.
Although no official agreement has yet been finalized, diplomatic contacts between involved countries appear to be increasing. Officials from multiple nations are expected to continue consultations as efforts toward a broader peace framework move forward.
