ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that the filing of Tax Returns for Tax Year 2026 will officially begin on Monday, July 27. The tax authority has urged all eligible taxpayers to submit complete, accurate, and truthful declarations through its online system.
According to the FBR, the annual filing season will start with the opening of the online IRIS portal. Individuals, salaried employees, businesses, companies, and other eligible taxpayers will be able to submit their Tax Returns for the relevant tax year using the digital platform.
The FBR emphasized that taxpayers should ensure all information entered in their returns is correct and complete. Officials said accurate declarations are essential for maintaining transparency and improving Pakistanโs tax administration.
In its official statement, the tax authority encouraged citizens to file their returns honestly and avoid providing incomplete or incorrect information. It added that timely submission of Tax Returns plays an important role in strengthening the national tax system and ensuring fair tax collection.
The launch of the filing portal marks the beginning of Pakistanโs annual income tax return season. Every year, eligible taxpayers are required to submit their returns in accordance with the provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance.
The FBR said the online IRIS portal will remain the primary platform for filing returns. Taxpayers are advised to prepare their financial information and supporting documents before starting the filing process.
Officials believe early filing can help taxpayers avoid unnecessary delays and reduce pressure closer to the submission deadline. The tax authority has not yet announced the final deadline for filing Tax Year 2026 returns.
The FBR stated that the filing deadline will be announced separately. Taxpayers are encouraged to stay updated through official announcements regarding important dates and any changes to the filing process.
The tax authority also reminded citizens that submitting accurate information helps improve the efficiency of the country’s tax system. Honest declarations contribute to better tax compliance and support public revenue collection.
Salaried individuals, business owners, companies, and other eligible taxpayers should carefully review their financial records before filing. This includes checking income details, tax deductions, and other relevant information to ensure their returns are complete.
Experts also recommend keeping necessary documents readily available before logging into the IRIS portal. Proper preparation can make the filing process faster and reduce the chances of errors.
The FBR has continued promoting digital tax services in recent years to make filing more convenient for taxpayers across Pakistan. The online system allows users to submit returns electronically without visiting tax offices.
Authorities hope more taxpayers will complete their obligations on time this year. They believe increased compliance will strengthen the country’s revenue system and improve overall tax administration.
