The Karachi administration has intensified operations against illegal cattle markets before Eid al-Adha. The campaign began on the instructions of Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi. Officials said the move aims to reduce traffic problems and improve sanitation across the city.
Authorities confirmed that several people were arrested during the latest Karachi Cracks operations. Cases were also registered against individuals involved in setting up unauthorized animal sale points in different areas.
In Shah Faisal Colony, officials removed an illegal cattle market during a recent raid. One person was taken into custody during the operation. Authorities said such actions would continue in areas where traders violate government rules.
Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem said another illegal cattle market was cleared near Piyala Hotel. He added that staff had been deployed at the site to stop traders from reopening the market.
According to officials, the same location had been cleared several times in the past. However, authorities said continuous monitoring was necessary to enforce official directives effectively. The Karachi Cracks campaign is expected to continue until Eid arrangements are fully managed.
In Korangi district, Deputy Commissioner Masood Bhutto confirmed that authorities removed several illegal cattle markets. These markets were operating in Makhdoom Society, Korangi No. 5, Nasir Jump, New Town, Chakra Goth, Shah Faisal, and Reta Plot.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Keamari Ameer Afzal Awaisi said authorities dismantled illegal animal markets near the Mauripur truck stand. Officials stated that these unauthorized setups were causing serious traffic congestion on roads leading to Hawkeโs Bay.
Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi said illegal cattle markets were creating multiple civic issues in Karachi. He explained that unauthorized markets caused waste management problems and disrupted traffic flow in busy areas.
Officials added that district administrations are working closely with police during the Karachi Cracks campaign. Authorities said operations would continue to maintain public order and ensure smooth Eid al-Adha preparations across the city.
