Food safety authorities in Lahore have intensified inspections against popular food brands after several well-known ice cream outlets were found violating health and hygiene rules. The latest crackdown targeted famous dessert chains, where officials reportedly discovered expired products and poor storage conditions during inspections.
According to reports, multiple outlets were Sealed after inspection teams found serious food safety concerns. Authorities said the action was part of an ongoing campaign to ensure public health standards are being followed across restaurants and dessert chains.
One outlet of international ice cream brand Baskin-Robbins was among those inspected. Officials reportedly found expired brownies stored inside deep freezers alongside ice cream products. Inspection teams raised concerns over improper food storage practices and possible health risks for customers.
A branch of Sweet Creme was also Sealed after officials allegedly found unhygienic conditions and expired food items inside the outlet. Videos circulating online showed inspectors examining products and highlighting multiple hygiene violations during the visit.
Another dessert outlet, Jay Bees, was also shut down after authorities reported similar violations. Social media clips shared online showed officials carrying out inspections and questioning food handling practices at the location.
The enforcement operation has sparked discussion online, with many customers expressing concern over food quality standards at popular eateries. Authorities stressed that regular inspections will continue across Lahore to prevent the sale of expired or unsafe food products.
Officials said strict action will be taken against businesses failing to follow basic food safety rules. They added that protecting consumers remains a top priority and inspections will become more aggressive in coming weeks.
Sweet Creme had already been facing public criticism earlier this month after a separate controversy in Rawalpindi’s Bahria Town Phase 7. A viral video showed an alleged confrontation between outlet staff and a six-year-old boy who reportedly sells books on the streets to support his family.
According to social media users, the child visited the outlet during extreme heat and asked for ice cream or ice. The situation reportedly turned into a heated exchange, triggering widespread backlash online.
Following the criticism, Sweet Creme issued a public apology. The company expressed regret over the incident and confirmed that the staff member involved had been removed from duty. The brand also repeated its zero-tolerance policy regarding inappropriate behavior.
