The Punjab government has announced new measures to strengthen the monitoring of water filtration plants and improve access to clean drinking water across the province. As part of the initiative, the government Launches Motorbike inspection squads to enhance oversight and ensure uninterrupted water supply.
The decision was made during a review meeting of the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority. The meeting was chaired by Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, who reviewed the performance and operational status of filtration plants across Punjab.
Officials said the government is taking several steps to improve service delivery. One of the key measures is the deployment of a special monitoring team equipped with 100 motorbikes. The province Launches Motorbike squads to regularly inspect filtration plants and verify that they are functioning properly.
According to officials, the monitoring teams will conduct routine visits to different areas. They will assess plant operations and check water quality standards. The inspections aim to identify problems quickly and ensure timely corrective action.
The government is also upgrading its complaint management system. Authorities believe the improved system will help reduce response times and address public complaints more efficiently. Residents will be able to report issues related to water supply through enhanced support channels.
As part of these reforms, the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority will strengthen its helpline service, 1336. Officials said the upgraded helpline will ensure that complaints are handled promptly and effectively.
In addition, authorities are introducing modern monitoring methods. Geotagging and photographic verification will be used to improve transparency and accountability. These tools will help officials track inspections and monitor plant performance more accurately.
The province also plans to upgrade laboratory testing facilities. Improved testing systems will help ensure that drinking water meets safety and quality standards. Officials emphasized that providing clean and safe water remains a major priority for the government.
The initiative will particularly focus on remote and underserved areas. Authorities intend to accelerate ongoing water projects and expand services to communities that currently face limited access to clean drinking water.
Minister Bilal Yasin directed relevant departments to speed up development work and improve operational efficiency. He stated that citizens deserve reliable access to safe drinking water and that all available resources should be used to achieve this goal.
