Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Saudi Arabia following a meeting with a high-level Saudi trade delegation in Islamabad.
The delegation was led by Prince Mansoor bin Muhammad Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi-Pak Joint Business Council. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to expand cooperation in key economic sectors and increase investment opportunities.
Senior members of the federal cabinet and government officials attended the meeting. Among them were Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Energy Minister Owais Leghari.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani were also present.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan wants to transform its longstanding brotherly relationship with Saudi Arabia into a strong and broad-based economic partnership. He noted that the visit of the Saudi delegation would help both countries identify new areas of cooperation and finalize investment opportunities.
The prime minister also conveyed his best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the discussions, the Saudi delegation expressed interest in investing in several important sectors. These included energy projects, port operations, highways, airports, agriculture, and food security initiatives.
Officials said the delegation is exploring opportunities that could help increase economic cooperation and support Pakistan’s development goals. The prime minister also encouraged Saudi investors to consider agriculture and food security among the priority sectors for future collaboration.
Prince Mansoor thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the delegation. He said the visit would help strengthen business links and create new opportunities for investors from Saudi Arabia.
Separately, Prince Mansoor held a meeting with Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan. The two sides discussed potential investment opportunities in Pakistan’s infrastructure and communications sectors.
Aleem Khan invited Saudi investors to participate in several motorway projects. These included the Karachi Port-linked M10 motorway, the Sukkur-Hyderabad M6 motorway, and the Kharian-Rawalpindi M13 motorway.
According to officials, the Saudi Business Council showed particular interest in these projects and discussed possible investment options. The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The visit is being viewed as a positive step toward expanding trade, investment, and infrastructure partnerships between the two countries.
