CHARSADDA – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four officials of NADRA during a raid at a registration center in Charsadda. The action was taken over allegations of illegal issuance of Computerized National Identity Cards.
According to officials, the FIA carried out the raid in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and detained four suspects linked to the case. The arrested individuals have been identified as Assistant Director Waqar Ahmad, Attaullah, Ahmad Raza, and Sajjad.
The FIA spokesperson said the suspects were allegedly involved in issuing CNICs to Afghan nationals without proper authorization. Authorities claim the operation was part of an organized network working inside the registration system.
During the raid, FIA teams reportedly recovered important documents, objectionable material, and weapons from the site. These items are now part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials also confirmed that Assistant Director Waqar Ahmad was already under investigation in other related inquiries. The agency said this raises further concerns about repeated violations within the system.
A formal case has been registered, and the FIA has launched further raids to trace other individuals linked to the alleged network. Investigators are also working to identify additional facilitators involved in the case.
Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing and aims to uncover the full scope of the illegal CNIC issuance activity. The agency is reviewing evidence to determine how many identity documents may have been issued unlawfully.
The FIA emphasized that strict action will continue against anyone involved in misuse of identity registration systems. Officials said no one will be allowed to violate national documentation laws.
Earlier, the FIA had also carried out enforcement operations at Karachi Sea Port and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim. Those actions included fines on crew members and enforcement of regulatory violations.
