LAHORE: The Punjab government has introduced a major healthcare program to support Cancer patients across the province. The new initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of treatment and improve access to quality medical care.
The program, named the “Chief Minister Special Initiative for Cancer Patients,” will provide free treatment worth up to Rs. 1 million per year. The facility is designed to help eligible patients receive timely medical care without worrying about high treatment costs.
According to the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company, the scheme is available only to permanent residents of Punjab. Authorities said the program targets individuals who face difficulties in managing expensive cancer treatment expenses.
Under the initiative, Cancer patients will receive support throughout their treatment journey. The coverage includes medical consultations, diagnosis, and complete treatment services. Patients will be able to access these facilities through hospitals included in the approved panel.
Officials stated that the program has been designed to ensure that Cancer patients receive comprehensive care from the early stages of diagnosis to the completion of treatment. The government believes this approach will improve treatment outcomes and reduce delays caused by financial challenges.
To make the program more accessible, a dedicated support system has also been introduced. Citizens can seek information and assistance through a 24-hour helpline at 0800-09009. Additional support will be available through landline numbers and a WhatsApp service.
The communication channels will help patients and their families understand the registration process and obtain guidance about available treatment facilities. Authorities hope that these services will make the program easier to access for people living in different parts of Punjab.
