Pakistan Budget 2026-27 to Be Presented Tomorrow with Rs17 Trillion Outlay and Proposed Tax Changes

Pakistan Budget 2026-27 to Be Presented Tomorrow with Rs17 Trillion Outlay and Proposed Tax Changes

Pakistan is set to unveil its federal budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 tomorrow, with the total outlay expected to exceed Rs17 trillion. According to budget proposals, the government plans to introduce a mix of tax relief measures and revenue-enhancing policies aimed at supporting economic growth while maintaining fiscal stability.

As part of the proposed budget, the development budget is expected to be set at Rs3.669 trillion. The allocation is intended to fund infrastructure projects, public services, and other development initiatives across the country.

One of the key highlights of the upcoming budget is relief for salaried individuals. Officials have proposed reducing income tax slabs for the salaried class. If approved, the move could lower the tax burden on millions of employees and increase their disposable income.

The government is also considering a reduction of 2 percent in the super tax rate. In another measure aimed at supporting businesses, authorities have recommended abolishing the 1 percent advance income tax currently imposed on the export sector. The proposal is expected to provide some relief to exporters and improve competitiveness.

However, the budget may also bring higher taxes on several products. According to the proposals, the General Sales Tax (GST) on solar panels, hybrid vehicles, and more than 20 other items could be increased to 18 percent. The measure is likely to generate additional revenue for the government but may also raise costs for consumers.

Economic targets for the next fiscal year have also been outlined in the budget framework. The government is expected to set an economic growth target of 4 percent for 2026-27. At the same time, the annual inflation target is proposed at 8.2 percent.

The upcoming budget is being closely watched by businesses, investors, and the general public. Many stakeholders are expecting measures that can support economic recovery, encourage investment, and provide relief from rising living costs.
