Somali Pirates Release New Video Message of Pakistani Hostages

Somali Pirates have released another video message showing Pakistani hostages held aboard the vessel MT Honour 25. In the footage, the crew members describe worsening living conditions and appeal for urgent help to secure their release.

According to reports, the hostages said they are facing severe shortages of basic necessities, including food and drinking water. The crew members claimed that they are surviving on limited supplies and are often provided only rice for meals.

The video features several crew members speaking about their daily struggles. They said they are forced to repeatedly request food from the captors and continue to live in difficult conditions. The hostages also described an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty aboard the ship.

The crew members appealed to authorities to ensure their safe return home. They urged both the Pakistani and Indonesian governments to take immediate action for their release. The hostages expressed frustration that more than two months have passed without a solution to the crisis.

The latest video also highlighted concerns about the health of those being held. Some crew members appeared weak and unwell, raising fears among their families and supporters. Relatives of the hostages have repeatedly voiced concern over the deteriorating conditions on board.

The vessel MT Honour 25 was hijacked by Somali Pirates near Somalia’s semi-autonomous Puntland region on April 21. The ship was carrying 17 crew members, including 10 Pakistani nationals, at the time of the incident.

Reports indicate that the captors are demanding direct negotiations with what they describe as an authorized representative of the shipping company. The pirates reportedly rejected individuals they claimed did not have the authority to negotiate on behalf of the company.

The hostage crisis has continued for weeks without a breakthrough. On May 19, 2026, Somali Pirates reportedly demanded a ransom of $3 million for the release of the crew, vessel, and cargo.

According to ongoing communications involving the Ansar Burney Trust, the pirate leader recently reiterated the ransom demand through a WhatsApp message. The message stated that the hostages and ship would only be released if the requested amount was paid.

The situation remains unresolved, and concerns continue to grow for the welfare of the crew members. Families of the hostages are urging authorities and relevant organizations to intensify efforts to secure their safe return.
