Three Passengers Rescued After Chairlift Malfunction in Abbottabad

Three Passengers were safely rescued after a chairlift developed a sudden technical fault in the Thai Dhamtor area of Tehsil Havelian, Abbottabad. The incident caused concern among local residents, but a timely rescue operation prevented any injuries.

According to the district administration, the chairlift, locally known as a Doli Lift, stopped working due to a technical issue while carrying Three Passengers. The passengers remained trapped in the air for some time before help arrived.

Officials said rescue teams were sent to the site immediately after receiving information about the malfunction. The emergency response was quick, and local residents also helped the rescue teams during the operation.

With combined efforts, Three Passengers were brought down safely from the chairlift. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.

Following the rescue, senior officials visited the location to review the situation. On the orders of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Muhammad Tariq and Additional Assistant Commissioner Kamran Ali Shah reached the site with rescue staff.

The officers supervised the operation and examined the chairliftโ€™s condition in detail. They also reviewed whether safety procedures were being followed properly.

After the incident, the district administration sealed the chairlift until further notice. Authorities also summoned the owner to appear in court regarding safety compliance and fitness certification.

Officials directed the owner to carry out immediate maintenance and complete a full safety inspection. They also ordered compliance with all legal requirements before reopening.

The administration said the chairlift would remain closed until a valid fitness certificate and No Objection Certificate (NOC) are obtained.

Authorities stressed that public safety remains their top priority. They said strict safety checks are being enforced on all chairlifts to avoid similar incidents in the future.
