Mamya Shajaffar and Arslan Butt Settle Harassment Dispute

Pakistani actors Mamya Shajaffar and Arslan Butt have reached a mutual settlement in their dispute over workplace harassment allegations. The agreement ends months of controversy, legal notices, and public statements.

On Monday, both actors shared copies of the settlement on social media. The posts confirmed that they had resolved their differences through mediation and mutual understanding.

The issue began in May when Mamya appeared on a YouTube talk show hosted by Iffat Omar. During the interview, she claimed that a person named โ€œArsalanโ€ had made her uncomfortable while working on a project.

Her statement led to confusion and public debate. Later, Mamya clarified that she was not referring to her College Gate co-star Arslan Khan. However, the matter escalated after Iffat reportedly linked actor Arslan Butt to the harassment claims.

In response, Arslan Butt sent a legal notice to Mamya. He called the allegations false, harmful, and defamatory. He said the statements damaged his reputation and caused him mental stress.

The notice asked Mamya to withdraw her claims. It also demanded an unconditional public apology.

Mamya later sent a Rs1 billion counter-notice. She rejected Arslanโ€™s claims and accused him of trying to pressure her. She also repeated her concerns about workplace harassment and said she felt silenced.

According to the settlement signed on June 19, both actors agreed that misunderstandings had caused the dispute. The agreement said the matter was resolved with the help of mutual mediators, elders, and well-wishers.

The document made it clear that the settlement does not mean either side admitted guilt or wrongdoing. Both parties also agreed not to make hostile or defamatory comments against each other in the future.

Mamya told local media that health issues stopped her from attending court hearings. She said this was one reason she chose an out-of-court settlement.

She also credited director Meer Sikandar for helping both sides reach a peaceful solution.
