NHA Increases M-2 Motorway Toll Rates by 7% from July 5

The NHA has announced a 7 percent increase in toll rates for commuters using the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2). The revised charges came into effect on July 5, 2026, and will remain valid until April 23, 2027.

According to an official notification, the increase is part of an agreement between the NHA and Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited. The company is a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The agreement focuses on the overlay, maintenance, and modernization of the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway.

Officials said the updated toll rates are intended to support ongoing infrastructure improvements. The motorway is one of Pakistanโ€™s busiest highways and connects two major cities. Regular maintenance and upgrades are considered important for safe and efficient travel.

Under the revised rates, drivers of cars, jeeps, and taxis will now pay Rs. 1,430 for the full Lahore-Islamabad Motorway journey. The toll per kilometer for these vehicles has been set at Rs. 3.98.

Wagon operators will pay Rs. 2,390 under the new pricing structure. The toll per kilometer for wagons is now Rs. 6.68.

For coasters, the updated toll has been fixed at Rs. 3,350. Their toll rate per kilometer has increased to Rs. 9.34.

Bus operators traveling on the M-2 Motorway will now pay Rs. 4,770. The toll per kilometer for buses has been revised to Rs. 13.32.

Heavy vehicles have also been affected by the increase. Trucks with two or three axles will pay Rs. 6,210. Their toll rate has been set at Rs. 17.33 per kilometer.

Articulated trucks will face the highest toll charges. The new toll for these vehicles is Rs. 7,980. Their per-kilometer rate has increased to Rs. 22.29.

The NHA stated that the revised toll schedule applies to all vehicles using the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway. Commuters are advised to check the updated rates before planning their trips. This will help travelers avoid confusion at toll plazas.

The Lahore-Islamabad Motorway is an important transport route for passenger and commercial traffic. Thousands of vehicles use the motorway every day. The road plays a key role in connecting businesses, industries, and travelers between Punjab and the federal capital.

The concession agreement between the NHA and the operating company aims to improve road quality and maintain international standards. Planned work includes road rehabilitation, resurfacing, and modernization of motorway facilities. These upgrades are expected to improve driving conditions and enhance road safety.
