GIKI Launches Graduate Assistantships for MS and PhD Students

The GIKI has announced a new graduate assistantship program for students enrolled in its MS and PhD degree programs. The initiative aims to support talented researchers by providing financial assistance and academic benefits across a wide range of engineering and technology disciplines.

According to the institute, the new assistantships are designed to encourage research and help students focus on their studies without facing major financial challenges. The program will be available to eligible students admitted to various postgraduate programs offered by GIKI.

Under the new scheme, PhD students can receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 158,000. Students enrolled in MS programs will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 88,000.

In addition to the monthly financial support, selected students will also receive free tuition and free hostel accommodation. The institute believes these benefits will make higher education more accessible for talented students from different parts of Pakistan.

The assistantships will be available across all MS and PhD programs offered by GIKI. Officials said the scheme reflects the instituteโ€™s commitment to promoting advanced research and developing highly skilled graduates in engineering and technology.

The institute has also simplified the application process. According to officials, all submitted applications, including those currently under review, will automatically be considered for the newly introduced assistantship program. Students will not need to submit a separate application for financial support.

The deadline to apply for the graduate programs and assistantships is July 31, 2026. Interested candidates are encouraged to complete their applications before the closing date to be considered for admission and financial assistance.

The postgraduate programs covered under the scheme include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Sciences, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Nanotechnology and Materials Engineering.

The institute expects the assistantship program to attract more outstanding students interested in research and innovation. Financial support will allow students to dedicate more time to academic work, laboratory research, and advanced technological development.

Higher education institutions across Pakistan are increasingly introducing scholarship and assistantship programs to strengthen research capacity. The new initiative by GIKI aligns with these efforts by encouraging postgraduate education and supporting future researchers.

Officials believe the assistantship program will improve research output and help produce qualified professionals in critical engineering fields. The initiative is also expected to enhance the instituteโ€™s academic environment by attracting talented students from across the country.
