The Islamabad Traffic Police has announced a three-day traffic diversion plan to facilitate the movement of foreign delegations in the federal capital. The temporary arrangements began at 8:00 a.m. on July 11 and will remain in place until 12:00 midnight on July 13.
According to officials, traffic diversions will affect several major roads across Islamabad during this period. Motorists have been advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays and ensure smoother travel.
The Traffic Police said the temporary measures are intended to support the safe and efficient movement of official delegations visiting the capital. Authorities have requested public cooperation throughout the diversion period.
Under the announced plan, traffic moving from Suhrawardy Chowk toward Serena Chowk will be diverted. Drivers traveling along this route have been advised to use Embassy Road as an alternative.
Traffic restrictions will also apply on Constitution Avenue. Vehicles traveling from France Turn toward Serena Chowk will be diverted. However, one-way traffic will remain operational to reduce disruption for commuters.
The diversion plan also includes changes for motorists traveling from Aabpara through Srinagar Highway toward Serena Chowk. These vehicles will be redirected through Seventh Avenue using Srinagar Highway as part of the alternative route.
Similarly, drivers traveling from Kashmir Chowk toward Serena Chowk will also face temporary diversions. The Islamabad Traffic Police has recommended Seventh Avenue as the preferred route for these commuters.
Officials said these changes are temporary and are designed to minimize congestion while ensuring security arrangements for the visiting delegations.
The Traffic Police has urged residents to carefully plan their travel before leaving home. Commuters have also been advised to allow additional travel time because traffic flow may be slower than usual on affected roads.
