Punjab to Build Aitchison-Style Schools for Boys and Girls After CM Maryam's Approval

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the establishment of Aitchison-Style Schools across the province as part of a major initiative to improve the quality of education. The project aims to provide modern learning facilities for both boys and girls while expanding access to high-standard education.

According to reports, the first pilot project will be launched under the name Maryam Nawaz Centre of Academic Leadership. The flagship campus will be built on Wahdat Road in Lahore and is expected to serve as a model for similar institutions across Punjab.

The newly approved Aitchison-Style Schools are designed to offer a complete educational experience. Along with modern classrooms, the campus will feature advanced sports and extracurricular facilities to support students’ overall development.

The proposed institution will include a modern sports hall, a hockey stadium, and a cricket stadium. Students will also have access to horse-riding facilities and a swimming pool. These additions are intended to encourage physical fitness alongside academic excellence.

Officials said the campus will have the capacity to accommodate 10,000 students. The plan includes enrolment for 5,000 boys and 5,000 girls, making it one of the largest educational projects of its kind in the province.

The approval was granted during a special meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. During the meeting, officials presented a detailed briefing on the proposed project, its objectives, and the facilities planned for the campus.

Following the presentation, the chief minister formally approved the Maryam Nawaz Centre of Academic Leadership pilot project. She described it as an important step toward raising educational standards and providing students with better learning opportunities.

The government hopes the Aitchison-Style Schools will combine quality education with modern infrastructure and extracurricular activities. The project is expected to create an environment where students can develop academically, physically, and socially.

Education experts have often highlighted the importance of modern facilities in improving learning outcomes. Sports grounds, science labs, and recreational spaces help students build leadership skills and confidence while supporting classroom education.

The initiative also reflects the provincial government’s broader focus on strengthening the education sector. By introducing high-quality institutions, officials aim to provide more students with access to facilities that were previously available only at a limited number of elite schools.

If successfully implemented, the Maryam Nawaz Centre of Academic Leadership could become a model for future educational institutions throughout Punjab. Authorities believe the project will help prepare students for higher education and future careers while promoting equal educational opportunities for boys and girls across the province.
