AIOU Announces fully funded PhD scholarships for eligible students under its Autumn 2026 admissions. The university will provide a monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000 along with full tuition fee coverage for selected candidates.
According to the university, the scholarships will be awarded on merit. Applicants must first meet the standard admission criteria set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). They must also fulfill additional scholarship requirements introduced by the university.
The AIOU Announces scholarship program aims to support talented researchers and encourage advanced studies in different academic fields. Selected scholars will receive financial support and access to research facilities throughout their studies.
The university is offering PhD admissions in a wide range of subjects. These include Islamic Studies, Distance and Non-Formal Education, Science Education, Mass Communication, Pakistani Languages and Literature, Agricultural Extension, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, Food and Nutrition, Mathematics, and Physics.
Several specialized PhD programs are also available in different branches of Islamic Studies and Pakistani Languages. Candidates can apply according to their academic background and research interests.
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have at least a 3.5 CGPA out of 4.0 or an equivalent grade in their MS or MPhil degree. They must also submit a strong research proposal related to the research priorities of the relevant department.
The university said candidates with previous research experience or published work will receive preference during the selection process. However, research publications are not compulsory for applying.
The maximum age limit for scholarship applicants is 35 years on the closing date of admissions.
Under the scholarship package, selected students will receive full tuition fee coverage for the entire PhD program. They will also receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000 to help cover their living expenses.
In addition, scholarship recipients will have access to university libraries, laboratories, research facilities, and online academic databases. These resources are intended to support quality research throughout the program.
The scholarship will continue for four years, provided students maintain satisfactory academic progress. Since it is a residential scholarship, selected scholars must remain physically present at the AIOU Main Campus during the stipend period.
AIOU Announces that PhD entry tests will be held in different phases. The entry test for Arabic and Islamic Studies is scheduled for August 21, 2026. The Education test will take place on August 24, while Social Sciences and Humanities candidates will appear on August 27. The Sciences entry test is scheduled for August 28, 2026.
