All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association (APPPOA) has announced an indefinite nationwide strike starting from midnight on July 22. The decision came after negotiations with the government ended without an agreement on the association’s key demands.
According to the association, discussions with the petroleum minister failed to produce a positive outcome. Representatives said both sides could not reach a consensus on important issues affecting fuel dealers across Pakistan.
One of the main concerns raised by the association was the demand for higher profit margins for dealers. The group also opposed the government’s plan to introduce daily fuel price revisions, saying the proposed system would create operational and financial difficulties for businesses.
The association confirmed that every Petrol Pump across the country will remain closed from midnight on July 22. The strike will continue until the government accepts what the association describes as its legitimate demands.
Officials of the APPPOA urged all Petrol Pump owners to fully participate in the nationwide shutdown. They also appealed to members to remain united and ensure that the protest remains peaceful throughout the strike.
The organization believes the current profit margins are no longer sufficient to meet rising operational expenses. It also argued that daily changes in fuel prices would make business planning more difficult and increase uncertainty for dealers.
The association said it had repeatedly informed the government about its concerns. However, no agreement was reached during the latest round of talks. As a result, the decision was made to launch an indefinite nationwide strike.
The closure of petrol stations could affect transportation, businesses, and daily commuters if the dispute continues for an extended period. Motorists may face difficulties in obtaining fuel while the strike remains in place.
The APPPOA has called on the government to reopen negotiations and reach a mutually acceptable solution. It said the strike could be called off if authorities respond positively to the demands of fuel dealers.
The association stressed that its protest is aimed at protecting the interests of Petrol Pump owners and ensuring the long-term sustainability of their businesses. It also urged authorities to address the industry’s concerns through constructive dialogue rather than delaying a resolution.
