The PDMA has reported that heavy rainfall and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have caused significant damage since July 19. According to the latest update, 14 people have died and 19 others have been injured in weather-related incidents across the province.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released the figures on Wednesday. The authority said rescue teams and relief agencies are continuing operations in the affected areas. Officials are also monitoring the weather as more rain is expected.
According to PDMA, the victims include six men, six children, and two women. The injured include 11 men, four women, and four children. The authority said all reported casualties were linked to heavy rain and flash flood incidents.
The recent spell of bad weather also caused damage to homes. PDMA said a total of 28 houses were affected during the rainfall. Out of these, 22 homes suffered partial damage, while six houses were completely destroyed due to flooding and related incidents.
Several districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been impacted by the ongoing weather conditions. The affected areas include Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Chitral, Lower Dir, and Upper Dir. Authorities are assessing losses and providing assistance where needed.
Relief efforts remain underway in the affected districts. Rescue teams are helping families, clearing damaged areas, and supporting people impacted by the floods. Local authorities are also working with emergency services to respond to any new incidents.
Despite the recent heavy rainfall, PDMA said the water flow in rivers, streams, and drains across the province remains at normal levels. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely to detect any sudden rise in water levels.
The weather department has predicted that rain will continue across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with breaks until July 23. Authorities have advised residents, especially those living near rivers, streams, and low-lying areas, to remain cautious during the ongoing wet spell.
The PDMA has urged the public to stay updated through official weather alerts and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities. Emergency response teams remain on standby to deal with any further weather-related emergencies as the rain system continues to affect the province.
