Director Hafeez Tahir has strongly criticized the makers of an AI-generated film based on Ainak Wala Jin. He claimed the movie was produced and released without his knowledge or permission.
The veteran director shared his concerns in a video posted on Instagram. He said he was shocked and upset after learning that filmmakers had used the name and concept of his famous television serial for an artificial intelligence-based movie.
According to Hafeez Tahir, the filmmakers released the AI film in cinemas without contacting him. He said no approval was taken before using the well-known title of Ainak Wala Jin.
Tahir stated that the children’s serial was his original creative work. He described himself as the concept writer and director of the popular drama. He said he personally selected the title and supervised the complete production.
He explained that he created the serial with great effort before handing it over to Pakistan Television (PTV). According to Tahir, the program became a major success and generated significant revenue for the state broadcaster over the years.
The director also accused filmmaker Farhan Khan of producing the AI-based movie without seeking his consent. He said he was never approached for discussions or invited to take part in the project.
Tahir also questioned the role of Pakistan Television, which reportedly served as the media partner for the film. He expressed disappointment that the broadcaster did not consult him before supporting the movie.
Another major concern raised by Tahir was the portrayal of the drama’s famous characters. He claimed that the AI-generated film changed the original appearance of several well-known characters from the classic serial.
He specifically mentioned Nastoor Jin, one of the most popular characters from the show. Tahir said the character’s new design did not match the original version and had damaged its identity.
The director also criticized the voices used in the AI film. He claimed the voice quality failed to reflect the original characters. In addition, he described the AI-generated music as poor and below the standard expected from such a project.
The controversy has sparked discussion about the use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry. It has also raised questions about intellectual property rights and the need to obtain permission before using established creative works.
Ainak Wala Jin originally aired on PTV from 1993 to 1996. The comedy series became one of Pakistan’s most loved children’s television shows. It gained a large fan following among both children and adults.
