Punjab Warns Schools Against Reopening Before August 24

The Punjab government has warned public and private schools against reopening before August 24. Officials directed administrations to follow the approved summer vacation schedule.

Punjab Minister for School and Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat issued the warning on Saturday. He said all educational institutions must remain closed until August 24.

The minister stressed that no public or private school can resume regular classes before the announced date. He urged administrations to follow the governmentโ€™s instructions.

Rana Sikandar Hayat also asked school administrations to provide students with their full summer vacation period. He said the break should not be shortened by reopening institutions early.

The Punjab government has allocated a full month of the summer break for remedial learning activities. These activities are being conducted through special Remedial Learning Camps.

The camps are intended to address learning gaps among students. They also aim to improve foundational academic skills before the new academic session begins.

According to the minister, the initiative will help students strengthen important educational concepts. It is also designed to support better academic performance.

School owners and administrations have been directed to cooperate fully with the governmentโ€™s policy. The minister repeated that institutions will not be allowed to reopen before August 24.

The warning applies to both public and private educational institutions across Punjab. Administrations that reopen before the permitted date would be acting against the governmentโ€™s announced schedule.

The government has also advised parents and students to follow official information. They should rely on the Punjab governmentโ€™s announced schedule for reopening dates.

Parents have been urged to avoid relying on unofficial announcements. Schools should also communicate reopening information according to government instructions.

The development comes as provincial authorities continue to manage the summer vacation period. The government says the break also provides time for remedial educational activities.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has announced revised timings for educational institutions. The changes apply to institutions operating under the School Education and Literacy Department.

According to an official notification, the new timings came into effect on August 6. They will remain applicable until further orders.

The Sindh department has instructed relevant officials to ensure compliance with the revised schedule. School administrations have also been directed to follow the new timings.

In Punjab, however, the focus remains on maintaining the summer break until August 24. The government has made clear that regular classes cannot resume earlier.

The latest directive provides clarity for students, parents and educational institutions. Schools across Punjab are expected to follow the official reopening date.

The governmentโ€™s decision also supports the planned remedial learning period. Schools are expected to cooperate with the policy and avoid premature reopening.
