Pakistan has secured three medals at the 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Pakistani students won one gold and two silver medals during the international competition. The event was held from August 2 to 8, 2026.
The Nuclear Science Olympiad brought together 120 students and experts from 19 countries. It is an international competition designed for secondary-school students interested in nuclear science.
The competition aims to promote scientific excellence among young students. It also encourages international cooperation in nuclear science and technology.
Pakistani Students Secure Gold and Silver Medals
Muhammad Ali won the gold medal for Pakistan at the competition. He represented Government College University (GCU) Lahore.
Muhammad Usman secured a silver medal for Pakistan. He represented F.G. Sir Syed College in Rawalpindi.
Seerat Fatima Bhatti also earned a silver medal. She represented Nixor College in Karachi.
Syed Shuja Haider from Sundar STEM School in Lahore also represented Pakistan at the international event.
According to APP, Team Pakistan was selected and trained by the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS).
The training was conducted under the auspices of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).
Students Received Specialized Training
The students were selected through the Pakistan Nuclear Science Olympiad, also known as PANSO.
The PAEC initiative aims to identify talented young students across Pakistan. It prepares them to compete at the international level.
After selection, students received specialized training from PIEAS faculty members and experts.
The training helped participants prepare for the academic requirements of the international competition. It also strengthened their understanding of nuclear science.
Pakistan’s performance at the Nuclear Science Olympiad highlights the country’s efforts to develop young scientific talent.

Pakistan to Host Next Competition
Pakistan will have another major role in the competition next year.
According to PAEC, Pakistan has been selected to host the fourth International Nuclear Science Olympiad in 2027.
Hosting the international competition will bring students and experts from different countries to Pakistan.
