Islamabad Police have received 30 new vehicles after a gap of 14 years. The vehicles will support operations across police stations in the federal capital.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry handed over the keys to officials.
The new vehicles have been allocated to Islamabad’s 27 police stations. They are expected to improve mobility and strengthen field operations across the city.
Officials said the vehicles would also help reduce response times during emergencies. They will support officers responding to public complaints and other incidents.
New Vehicles to Improve Police Operations
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the importance of modern resources for effective policing.
He said outdated vehicles cannot meet the requirements of a modern capital city. He added that officers need adequate resources to perform their duties effectively.
The government is working to provide Islamabad Police with modern equipment and improved facilities.
Naqvi also highlighted plans to introduce electric vehicles. He said electric vehicles could help reduce fuel consumption and operating expenses.
Their introduction would also support efforts to make policing operations more environmentally friendly.
9,000 New Personnel Being Recruited
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also spoke about the shortage of personnel in the capital.
He said around 9,000 new personnel were being recruited for Islamabad Police. According to Chaudhry, merit is being maintained throughout the recruitment process.
The additional personnel are expected to strengthen the force and improve its operational capacity.
Chaudhry also said work was underway to renovate and upgrade all 27 police stations in Islamabad.
The authorities aim to complete the renovation and upgrade projects during the current year.
Islamabad Police Modernisation Efforts
Officials said the latest measures are part of a broader modernisation effort in the federal capital.
The initiative includes new vehicles, additional personnel and improvements to existing police stations.
