LAHORE: Five people were killed after a speeding car crashed into a tree in Lahore. The incident occurred on Canal Road in the Harbanspura area.
Rescue officials said the white car was travelling at high speed. The driver reportedly lost control before the vehicle crashed into a tree.
The accident also struck two pedestrians. Both pedestrians died from injuries sustained in the incident.
Three people travelling inside the car were also killed. Rescue teams reached the scene after receiving information about the accident.
The deceased were identified as 15-year-old Muzammil and 18-year-old Nauman. The other victims were 20-year-old Abdul Rehman, 17-year-old Furqan and 19-year-old Junaid.
Rescue officials shifted the victims to Services Hospital. An injured child is also receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers linked to speeding. Loss of vehicle control can have serious consequences for passengers and pedestrians.

In a separate incident, five people drowned while bathing in the Indus River in Swabi. The incident included a father and his two sons.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Luqman Khan, a young man began drowning while bathing in the river. His father tried to rescue him.
The father also drowned during the rescue attempt. The young man’s brother then entered the river to save both of them.
