Financial Constraints Force Temporary Suspension of Health Card Scheme in KP, Leaving Beneficiaries Concerned

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) faces yet another setback in its healthcare sector as the Sehat Insaf card scheme encounters a temporary halt due to financial constraints. The suspension, effective immediately, has led to a pause in new admissions to the health card program, although emergency medical services will still be accessible with prior authorization.

The disruption, attributed to a scarcity of funds, has been confirmed by administrative sources. Notably, an unpaid amount of Rs. 21 million has accumulated over a year, significantly impacting the program’s smooth functioning. Despite a government release of a Rs. 1 million installment, the funds have not been received, exacerbating the financial strain.

This situation raises concerns among beneficiaries, who rely on the program for essential medical care. It underscores the urgency of ensuring sustainable funding to guarantee the continuity of the Sehat Insaf card initiative. As the healthcare sector navigates financial challenges, the welfare of KP’s residents remains a critical concern that calls for immediate attention and resolution.
