KARACHI: The Sindh government has approved a judicial commission to investigate the murder of young businessman Mir Raza.
The decision was approved through circulation among members of the Sindh cabinet on Sunday. A serving judge of the Sindh High Court will lead the inquiry.
The cabinet has asked the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court to nominate a judge. The commission has been established under Section 3 of the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969.
The Sindh cabinet also approved the Terms of Reference (TORs) for the investigation. The murder case was initially registered at Ferozabad Police Station.
According to a spokesperson for Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister expressed sympathy with Mir Raza’s family. He also said the concerns raised by the family were taken seriously.
The spokesperson said Raza’s family had written to the chief minister. They requested a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
The judicial commission will now examine the case through a transparent and impartial process. It will review possible gaps and discrepancies in the initial investigation.
The commission will also examine additional evidence linked to the case. It will scrutinize the roles of police officers and medico-legal officials.
Other government officials involved in the investigation will also come under review. The commission may identify failures in official duties during the investigation.
It can also recommend action if evidence tampering or other irregularities are established. The commission has powers to conduct further investigations when necessary.
It may also order forensic reviews of relevant evidence. These powers are granted under the Sindh Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance.
The judicial commission will have powers similar to those of a civil court. This will allow it to examine evidence and seek relevant information.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed government departments to cooperate fully. Officials involved in the case have also been instructed to assist the commission.
The development is expected to provide further clarity on the Mir Raza murder case. It may also address concerns raised over the initial investigation.
The commission’s findings could determine whether further legal or administrative action is required. The inquiry will focus on facts, evidence, and the conduct of officials.
The Mir Raza case has drawn attention due to questions surrounding the initial investigation. The judicial probe aims to address those concerns through an independent review.
