Pakistan women secured their first victory in the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 with a convincing win over Thailand.
Pakistan defeated Thailand by 35 runs in the tournament’s fifth match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
After setting a target of 120 runs, Pakistan produced a disciplined bowling performance. Thailand finished their 20 overs at 84/8.
The victory moved Pakistan into second place in Group A. India remained ahead of Pakistan on net run rate.
Pakistan Bowlers Restrict Thailand to 84/8
Thailand struggled to build partnerships while chasing Pakistan’s target.
Chanida Sutthiruang was Thailand’s leading scorer with 25 runs from 24 deliveries. Captain Naruemol Chaiwai contributed 17 runs.
Natthakan Chantham scored 14, while Aphisara Suwanchonrathi added 13. However, Thailand could not develop enough momentum during the chase.
Sadia Iqbal delivered an impressive spell for Pakistan. She finished with three wickets for only 11 runs in four overs.
Tuba Hassan claimed two wickets. Nashra Sandhu and captain Fatima Sana took one wicket each.
Pakistan’s bowling effort ensured Thailand remained well short of the required target.
Muneeba Ali Leads Pakistan’s Recovery
Earlier, Pakistan elected to bat first but suffered an early setback.
Shawaal Zulfiqar scored one, while Gull Feroza was dismissed without scoring. Pakistan slipped to 6/2 inside two overs.
Ayesha Zafar then scored nine runs from eight balls. Her dismissal left Pakistan struggling at 23/3 after 4.4 overs. Muneeba Ali and Sadaf Shamas responded with an important fourth-wicket partnership.
The pair added 54 runs and helped Pakistan recover from the difficult start. Sadaf made 20 before Suleeporn Laomi dismissed her during the 13th over.
Captain Fatima Sana was also dismissed without scoring in the same over. Muneeba continued to anchor Pakistan’s innings. She eventually departed after scoring 54 runs from 52 deliveries.
Her innings included four boundaries and proved crucial in Pakistan’s final total.
Pakistan Post 119/9 Against Thailand
Umm-e-Hani scored 17 runs, while Tuba Hassan remained unbeaten on 12. Pakistan eventually reached 119/9 from their allotted 20 overs.
Laomi was Thailand’s leading bowler with three wickets for 14 runs. Thipatcha Putthawong also claimed three wickets while conceding 18 runs. Phannita Maya finished with two wickets.
Sunida Chaturongrattana also took one wicket during Pakistan’s innings. Pakistan then successfully defended their total to register their first T20 Asia Cup victory of the campaign.
The result placed Pakistan second in Group A behind India on net run rate.
Thailand dropped to third place with two points from three group-stage matches.
