The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced its 15-member Pakistan U19 squad for the upcoming England tour.
The Pakistan U19 team will leave Lahore on Sunday, August 30. The tour will officially begin on September 2.
Pakistan will play one Youth Test against England during the tour. The match will be held at Arundel Castle Cricket Ground.
The 15-member squad will also compete in four Youth One-Day Internationals. The series will give young players valuable international experience.
Right-handed batter Farhan Yousaf has been named captain. He previously led Pakistan to victory in the ACC U19 Asia Cup last December.
The squad features four specialist fast bowlers. They are Mohammad Sayyam, Abdul Subhan, Rizwanullah and Umar Zaib.
The bowling group also includes two left-arm spinners. Mohammad Huzaifa is a left-arm wrist-spinner, while Niqab Shafiq is a left-arm spinner.
Aliyan Salman, Ahmad Hussain, Jahangir Bilal and Hayam Khan will add all-round options. Their abilities will provide greater balance to the Pakistan U19 team.
Hamza Zahoor and Abdul Qadir have been selected as wicketkeepers. Farhan Yousaf, Usman Khan and Hasnain Abbas Dar are the designated batters.
The Pakistan U19 team recently completed a preparation camp at the National Cricket Academy. The camp included intensive training ahead of the England tour.
The players also featured in a two-day red-ball intra-squad match. The match concluded on Tuesday as part of their final preparations.
Several members of the 15-member squad already have international experience. Farhan, Subhan, Ahmad, Hamza, Sayyam, Huzaifa, Niqab, Umar and Usman have represented Pakistan U19.
The remaining players are in line to make their Pakistan U19 debuts. The England tour could therefore provide several young players with their first international opportunity.
Shahid Anwar will serve as head coach during the tour. Rao Iftikhar Anjum will work as the fast bowling coach.
Zohaib Khan has been appointed spin bowling coach. Humayun Farhat will oversee the team’s fielding preparations.
The 15-member squad includes a mix of experienced youth internationals and promising newcomers. Pakistan will look to build momentum across the Youth Test and four ODIs.
