The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and district administration launched an Emergency drainage operation in Islamabad.

The operation began on Tuesday after heavy rainfall caused waterlogging across several parts of the capital.

Officials focused on Sector E-11, Ghouri Town and other low-lying areas. These locations faced significant water accumulation following the rain.

Special teams were deployed to manage the situation. Dewatering machinery was also moved to vulnerable locations.

The teams worked at underpasses, interchanges and major roads. They also focused on other areas where water could create traffic problems.

Officials cleared drains and waterways to improve the movement of rainwater. The operation aimed to prevent further water accumulation.

CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf inspected several affected areas. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon accompanied him during the visit.

They visited E-11, Ghouri Town and other locations. Officials reviewed drainage arrangements and traffic management measures.

The officials also assessed the Emergency response in areas affected by waterlogging. They examined arrangements designed to protect residents during heavy rainfall.

Ashraf directed officials to use all available resources. He also ordered continuous monitoring of sensitive and vulnerable locations.

He instructed teams to ensure the immediate removal of accumulated water. Authorities were also directed to maintain close coordination during the operation.

Joint teams from several departments remained active in the field. These included the CDA, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad and Emergency and Disaster Management.

The district administration also participated in the operation. Teams continued efforts to improve drainage and reduce waterlogging.

The Emergency response comes as Islamabad faces increased pressure from heavy rainfall. Water accumulation can disrupt traffic and create difficulties for residents.

Authorities have urged citizens to take precautions during periods of intense rain. Residents were advised to avoid unnecessary travel whenever possible.

People were also asked to stay away from low-lying and waterlogged areas. Such locations can become dangerous when rainfall continues.

Residents facing emergencies or drainage-related problems can contact the relevant helplines. The administration has provided 1334 and 16 for reporting complaints.

Officials are continuing to monitor vulnerable locations across Islamabad. Further action will be taken if rainfall causes additional water accumulation.

The Emergency drainage operation is aimed at restoring normal conditions. Authorities are also working to keep major roads and public routes accessible.
