How iPhone Handoff Works
The new iPhone Handoff feature is designed for people who regularly switch between two iPhones.
It allows the same phone number to be linked with two supported devices. However, the number cannot remain active on both devices simultaneously.
Instead, users can switch their active mobile connection from one device to another.
This approach eliminates the need to manually transfer an eSIM each time users change their primary device.

Which iPhones Will Support Handoff?
Apple will make the feature available on compatible devices running iOS 27.
The newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will support Handoff from the beginning.
The iPhone Duo will also offer support because these devices ship with iOS 27.
Other compatible models may access the feature after installing Apple’s latest operating system.
However, installing iOS 27 alone will not automatically activate the service.
Carrier Support Is Required
The iPhone Handoff feature depends on support from mobile network operators.
This means customers need both a compatible device and a carrier offering the service.
For T-Mobile customers in the US, the feature will cost an additional $5 each month.
Users will be able to access Handoff through their device settings when the required carrier support is available.
