Baku has completed a major week of international events featuring motorsport, security discussions, and investment activities. The Azerbaijan capital hosted the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Baku Security Forum, and the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum during one of its busiest periods of the year.
The city transformed into a global destination as thousands of visitors arrived for the F1 Race event. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix brought international attention to Baku, with the streets becoming the centre of one of the biggest motorsport gatherings in the region.
Alongside the racing activities, the Baku Security Forum gathered representatives from more than 100 countries. Officials and experts discussed emerging security challenges and new threats affecting the modern world.
The week later shifted focus toward international finance and economic cooperation. The Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum opened on September 25 at the Baku Convention Centre.
The two-day forum focused on strengthening global investment partnerships and improving connectivity through the South Caucasus region. Officials highlighted Azerbaijan’s role as a link between Asian and European markets.
Keyu Jin, Professor of Finance and Chair of the Centre for Macro-Finance and Geo-economics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, attended the forum. She praised the organisation of events across the city.
She said the combination of the F1 Race, security conference, and investment forum helped bring people from around the world to Azerbaijan. She added that the events increased the country’s global visibility.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said reliable partnerships and strong supply chains are becoming increasingly important in global economic decisions. He said foreign companies continue to invest and reinvest in the country.
The government is promoting Azerbaijan not only as an investment destination but also as a gateway connecting larger international markets. Officials highlighted growing interest in transport links, renewable energy, and digital development.
During the investment forum, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy partnered with Vietnam’s ROX Group on construction and development projects. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to support the national digital economy.
In the renewable energy sector, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy worked with ROX Group’s energy subsidiaries to explore large-scale solar and wind projects.
