Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced a completion timeline for the University Road project.

He said work on Karachi’s University Road project would be completed within the next two months.

Memon made the announcement during the inauguration of the Mosamiyat Flyover on Sunday.

The flyover is an important part of Karachi’s Red Line Bus Rapid Transit project.

Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani was also present at the inauguration ceremony.

Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad also attended the event.

University Road Work Enters Final Stage

Speaking at the ceremony, Memon said construction work on University Road had reached its final stage.

He said the remaining work would be completed within two months.

The project has affected traffic movement along one of Karachi’s important routes during construction.

Its completion is expected to mark another major step in the development of the Red Line BRT corridor.

Memon also provided an update about the newly inaugurated Mosamiyat Flyover.

He said the flyover would soon become available for public use.

However, some necessary formalities must be completed before traffic can begin using the structure.

Work on BRT stations and other related infrastructure is also progressing, according to the minister.

Red Line BRT Work Continues

The Mosamiyat Flyover forms part of the wider Red Line BRT development in Karachi.

Construction activities have continued on different sections of the transport project.

Memon acknowledged that the project had faced delays.

He also apologised to Karachi residents for difficulties caused during the prolonged construction period.

According to Memon, rising costs contributed to delays in completing the project.

He specifically mentioned increases in the dollar exchange rate and cement prices.

Higher petrol prices also affected project costs and construction progress, he said.

Despite these challenges, Memon said work on the project had continued.

The provincial government is now aiming to complete the remaining construction within the announced timeline.

The completion of Karachi’s University Road works will also support progress on the wider BRT infrastructure.

Residents and commuters have faced disruption while construction remained underway on the busy road.

Once the required formalities are completed, the Mosamiyat Flyover will also open to motorists.

Meanwhile, work on stations and other Red Line components will continue.
