Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has launched a major programme to improve animal healthcare across the province.

The Rs2.6 billion initiative will bring veterinary facilities closer to livestock farmers, particularly those living in remote areas.

Named “Ehsaas-e-Bezaban Sehat Gaari,” the programme includes 145 mobile veterinary clinics and 27 mobile laboratory units.

Around 202 veterinary doctors and assistants will support the new network across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Veterinary Care to Reach Remote Areas

According to the Livestock Department, the Mobile Veterinary Service will operate at the tehsil level.

The clinics will provide vaccinations, diagnosis, treatment and emergency veterinary care to livestock.

Many farmers currently travel long distances to reach veterinary hospitals or clinics. The programme aims to reduce this burden.

Veterinary teams will travel directly to communities where livestock healthcare facilities are difficult to access.

The government expects the initiative to improve disease prevention and provide faster treatment for sick animals.

Digital Dashboard to Monitor Services

The mobile veterinary network will also connect with a central digital dashboard.

Officials said the system will help authorities monitor services and improve programme management.

The digital platform is also expected to strengthen oversight of veterinary teams working across different areas.

Through the Mobile Veterinary Service, authorities aim to create a more accessible animal healthcare network across the province.

Mobile Labs to Check Milk Quality

The programme also includes 27 mobile laboratories focused on milk-quality testing.

These laboratories will allow officials to test milk locally and identify possible adulteration.

They will also help detect potentially harmful contaminants in milk more quickly.

Chief Minister Afridi said improved testing could strengthen milk-quality monitoring and protect consumers.

Government Focuses on Livestock Farmers

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Afridi said livestock plays an important role in rural livelihoods.

He said families should have access to veterinary care regardless of their distance from major towns.

The chief minister also stressed the importance of preventing animal diseases instead of only treating them.

Livestock provides food, income and financial support to millions of families across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The government believes healthier animals can increase productivity and improve earnings for livestock farmers.

The new Mobile Veterinary Service is also expected to reduce farmers’ travel costs and improve access to timely treatment.
