ISLAMABAD – The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has allocated Rs1 billion for city branding, decoration and event management services across the federal capital. The funds will be used for activities throughout the year, including arrangements for national celebrations, major public events and visits by foreign dignitaries.
According to MCI officials, the allocation will cover a range of services required for events and official activities in Islamabad. These include outdoor branding, temporary decorations, promotional displays, event management and other arrangements needed at different locations across the city. Events involving foreign dignitaries will also be covered under the planned services.
The new allocation is higher than the amount spent on similar services last year. Officials said around Rs600 million was spent for these activities during the previous year. They attributed the increase to rising service costs and expectations of a greater number of international events in the capital.
The MCI plans to hire a contractor through a competitive procurement process to handle the work. The initial contract will have a duration of two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension subject to the applicable terms and procurement requirements. The contract is intended to bring different branding, decoration and event management requirements under a single arrangement.
Under the planned agreement, the successful company will provide services at various locations across Islamabad. These will include outdoor branding and decoration as well as arrangements for major public and official events. The contractor will be required to provide the services according to the specifications and conditions set out in the procurement documents.
The MCI said the procurement will help coordinate branding and event-related requirements through one framework instead of making separate arrangements for individual activities. This approach will allow the corporation to manage preparations for national celebrations, official functions and other major events more efficiently under the agreed contract.
Islamabad regularly hosts national ceremonies, government functions and international events that require temporary branding, decoration and logistical arrangements. The MCI has increased its projected allocation in view of these requirements and the costs associated with providing such services throughout the year.
The Rs1 billion represents the total allocation for the specified activities, while actual spending will depend on the events held and the services required. Officials said the funds will be used according to the needs of different activities during the contract period.
The procurement process will determine which company receives the contract. Only bidders meeting the required qualifications and other conditions will be considered, with the lowest qualified bidder expected to be selected in accordance with the procurement procedure.
