Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected reports claiming that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) aircraft were used against Yemen’s Houthi forces. The ministry described the claims as “fake and fabricated” in an official fact-check published on X.
The statement clarified Pakistan’s position amid growing regional tensions. It also urged international media outlets to avoid speculation about Pakistani military operations under the Mecca Joint Defense Pact.
The ministry said relevant authorities would provide details if any military deployment became necessary. This clarification serves as an official denial of the reported involvement.
Pakistan Rejects Claims of Military Action in Yemen
The ministry’s statement directly addressed reports suggesting Pakistani aircraft had participated in Airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. However, Pakistan denied these claims and did not confirm any involvement in such operations.
The government also emphasized that information about potential military deployments should come from the relevant authorities. This approach aims to prevent unverified reports from being treated as confirmed military developments.
Pakistan’s military presence in Saudi Arabia does not automatically indicate participation in combat operations against Yemen. Officials have stressed the importance of distinguishing between a regional military presence and direct involvement in strikes.
Defence Minister Clarifies Pakistan’s Military Role
Separately, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif addressed the military presence of Pakistan and Turkey in the region. He stated that both countries had personnel or forces present, but Saudi forces alone were participating in combat operations.
His remarks provided additional context regarding Pakistan’s reported role during the regional conflict. They also reinforced the distinction between maintaining a military presence and conducting offensive operations.
The statements come amid continued tensions involving Saudi Arabia and the Iran-aligned Houthi movement in Yemen.
Regional Tensions Rise Amid Reported Missile Attacks
The clarification followed reports of escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Houthi forces. On Thursday, the Houthis claimed they had targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with a ballistic missile.
Saudi authorities had also reported attacks on two international airports a day earlier. According to those reports, the attacks killed three people and injured 36 others.
These developments have increased concerns about regional security and the potential for further escalation. However, the reported incidents do not establish Pakistani participation in any Airstrikes against Yemen.
Pakistan Says Official Authorities Will Provide Updates
Pakistan’s position remains that information concerning the possible use of its armed forces will come through the relevant authorities. The government has rejected the specific reports alleging PAF involvement in operations against the Houthis.
Until officials announce otherwise, Pakistan’s military presence in Saudi Arabia should not be interpreted as confirmation of combat participation. The ministry’s denial remains the central clarification regarding the claims.
