Pakistan’s Roshan Digital Accounts recorded cumulative gross inflows of $14.16 billion by the end of September 2026.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), inflows increased by $251 million during September. The latest figures represent the highest cumulative inflows recorded since the initiative began in 2020.

The total number of accounts also reached 975,602, reflecting continued participation by overseas Pakistanis.

The State Bank’s latest data shows continued growth in funds transferred through the Roshan Digital Account initiative. Since its launch in November 2020, the programme has attracted $14.16 billion in gross inflows.

Of this amount, $2.15 billion had been repatriated by September 2026.

Meanwhile, approximately $8.94 billion had been used locally in Pakistan.

These transactions left a net repatriable liability of $3.07 billion. The figure increased by approximately $65 million compared with August 2026.

Net repatriable liability represents funds that remain available for repatriation under the programme.

Cumulative net investments through the initiative reached $2.27 billion by September 2026.

These investments include conventional Naya Pakistan Certificates, Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates, and Roshan equity investments.

Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates accounted for the largest investment share, reaching $1.38 billion.

Conventional Naya Pakistan Certificates attracted approximately $740 million. Meanwhile, Roshan equity investments stood at $153 million.

During September, investments in Islamic certificates increased by $43 million.

Conventional certificate investments also recorded growth of $24 million. However, Roshan equity investments declined by $2 million during the month.

The latest figures indicate that investment certificates continue to attract a significant portion of funds.

Despite rising cumulative inflows, balances held in RDA accounts declined slightly during September. The total account balance decreased by $4 million to $725 million.

Other liabilities increased by $2 million, reaching $80 million.

Monthly repatriations also declined compared with the previous month.

Overseas account holders repatriated $16 million during September, compared with $23 million in August. Meanwhile, cumulative funds used locally increased by $170 million to $8.94 billion.

These figures highlight the different ways overseas Pakistanis manage their funds through the programme.

The Roshan Digital Account initiative allows nonresident Pakistanis to open bank accounts remotely.

The programme was introduced in November 2020 to provide overseas Pakistanis with access to banking and investment services.

Eligible customers can open accounts through participating Pakistani banks without visiting a branch in person.

Account holders can transfer funds, make eligible payments, and invest through approved financial instruments.

Investment options include conventional and Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates. The initiative also provides access to investment opportunities in Pakistan’s stock market.

These services aim to make banking and investment more convenient for Pakistanis living abroad.

The latest figures show that Roshan Digital Accounts remain an important channel for overseas financial transfers. Cumulative inflows have now exceeded $14 billion, while account registrations are approaching one million.

Islamic investment certificates continue to hold the largest share of net investments.

The September figures also show growth in local fund utilisation and a decline in monthly repatriations. However, gross inflows should not be confused with funds currently held in Pakistan.

A significant portion of cumulative transfers has already been repatriated or used locally.
