WhatsApp Desktop is set to receive new features in an upcoming update, following the introduction of these features on WhatsApp for Android and iOS. The WABetaInfo team has provided insights into these upcoming features through the latest beta release of the PC version of WhatsApp.
One of the major upgrades includes enhancements to the app’s sidebar and the introduction of a chat filter option. The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo reveals that the new interface resembles the one currently in development for WhatsApp on Android. It incorporates three distinct filters to improve chat organization, making it easier for users to find unread messages, personal conversations, and group chats.

In addition to the filter option, WhatsApp is planning to introduce a redesigned sidebar. This new sidebar closely mirrors the one featured in the native WhatsApp application for Windows. However, the update will consolidate all sidebar buttons, unlike the native desktop app, which splits them at the top and bottom.
While these changes represent relatively minor updates, the filter option is expected to be particularly beneficial for users with numerous active chats, as it will streamline chat navigation and organization.
It’s worth noting that these design updates are still in development, and it remains unclear when they will be rolled out to the stable version of WhatsApp Web. Typically, a wider public beta release precedes the final release of features, so users can watch for such beta releases for an indication of when these updates will become available. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
